The Wolf Of Wall Street centers on the life of materialistic stock- broker Jordan Belfort; a guy in his mid twenty's who's aspiration in life is to get as rich; high and drunk as possible. The film starts by showing Jordan who founded the investment firm Stratton Oakmont in an abandoned garage in Long Island, NY with the help of Donnie Azoff played by Jonah Hill, and eventually leads to the success of owning a large office space with hundreds of aspiring stockbrokers. After the companies enormousness success it shows Jordan and company swindling there way to a large personal fortune. A large amount of money (though granted almost nothing compared to the net worth) went in to funding a drug fueled social life that the film may have exaggerated just a little bit albeit I have not read the book so I cannot really comment. But finally the party came to an end when Belfort was indicted by the FBI for securities fraud and money-laundering. The film shows us this but Martin Scorsese's main concern is showing Belforts expeditious and cynical route to the top, and unlimited supply of various types of drugs and strippers (which is illustrated in the film). This is probably why the film has been accused of glamorizing crime by ignoring his victims and failing the viewers needs to see justice.
Watch The Wolf of Wall Street Online The cast: Starting off by talking about Leonardo Di Caprio, who's surprised? Although he played the part exceptionally well and deserved the Golden Globe win + fourth Oscar nomination, and I am defiantly backing Leo to win this year, although he will probably get snubbed. Secondly another Oscar nod for Jonah Hill, who has gained quite a lot of new fans for this movie after there was a lot of skepticism when people saw him cast, however he defiantly plays this role very well and made this movie hilarious. Then of course the rest of the cast, which was exceptional. Matthew Mcconaughey only had about 10 minutes of screen time, but it was some of the most enjoyable of the entire movie, it was also nice to see a welcomed return into Hollywood by Rob Reiner who played Jordan's insane father. And there were many more awesome appearances, one of the most memorable from Joanna Lumley.
